The importance of IAQ

Indoor air quality is one of the vital criteria in HVAC helping to increase thermal comfort levels, save on energy costs , protect the health of a building’s inhabitants, and protect the environment.

IAQ is particularly important in the design of medium to large industrial and office buildings such as sky scrapers and in healthcare environments where humidity and temperature must all be closely regulated whilst maintaining safe and healthy conditions within.

How IAQ is applied

IAQ is applied through IAQ products and peripheries that are available in addition to your HVAC system. Some will clean the air while others help the system run more efficiently. Applying IAQ to new systems

  • IAQ is automatically applied by placing the unit strategically- for example placing the unit where there is clean air.
  • IAQ will be affected by the quality of the installation –for example if there are holes or leaks in the ductwork, impure particles can seep through into the living or working space.
  • New systems that come with IAQ features- Many air conditioners come equipped with IAQ features such as hepa- filters or mildew resistant osmosis machines.
